You bet wrong.

But I bet none of us would mind receiving a PM with the names of these kind guys. Or, at least, here's one poster who wouldn't.

Sadly, this is why I play more and more alone. I'm sorry to hear about that. Everyone dies sometimes. Their names should be posted imho.. maybe it would encourage a better community with checks in place. I need to find more people like you monk to play with. I'd have been right there ressing her and congratulating her on her drops lol. Oh well. Hopefully it didnt color her day too badly.

I remember a month or so ago when someone posted a similar story about the UW and a handful of people said they would do the same thing.

Yet another reason to go henchies/guildies only...

Personally I could care less about items anymore anyway. Mostly its quality of play.. and by that I dont mean efficiency, speed, number of drops per second lol, minimal number of deaths per hour if any at all, etc. I just wish to play with people who want to enjoy the game, have some semblance of patience, and dont get on other people for a mistake that could happen to anyone. Only after that are the previous things important. I'm an idealist. Obviously. :P

I have had this happen to me a cpl times. The last time was in the FoW & I had a shard drop for me while I was dead. Instead of the Monks rezzing me they stood around near the shard waiting for it to change. What the aholes didnt know was I was on TeamSpeak with a buddy of mine. I suggested that he act like he was going on with the mission with the hopes they would follow him...they did & as soon as they did he ran back to my shard & I exited the map & my friend picked it up. =) I let him keep it tho. Just as long as the loot pinchers didn't get it I'm cool.

I was in THK last night and a black dye dropped for this guy up on the wall, I said "dude if you dont want that can I have it?" just joking around, well we fight our way up there and dude runs right past his dye, again I say "if youre not going to pick it up I will" and he didnt, and I did.

wiping of characters seems appropriate.

If all you can do is steal other people's items, you don't deserve any.

This happened to me in pre-searing on a charr run with some random guy. I was my monk after getting gang raped by a group of charr he left me for dead, after he seen a purple sword, i think it was a butterfly sword (which was pretty good item for pre-searing) assigned to me. I waitied a good 15 mins or so telling him i wont let him have it, but this guy wouldent give in... for a stupid pre-searing item worth, what 200 gold lol. What a Jackass.

Ok that was very very bad behavior on their part. A punishment would seem to be in order. However, everyone just needs to outsmart these guys. Next time, do this:

(you are dead with a Green/Gold on the ground for you)
You: Rez me guys
Them: No I want your stuff
You: You want that POS? I had two drop yesterday. Rez me and I'll give it to you now, so we don't have to wait.

Now they are in a dilema. Anyone this slimy is also very lazy, and won't want to wait. Especially if you play the item down big time. Of course, when (if) they rez you, get the item, and LEAVE.

I have to say that something like this, not exactly this happened to me in GF, we were fighting Yakslapper and a doly so I did my best to stop them from healing and spamming MoP, which I did to some degree well Before I got ganged up on by the carvers... who being about five or six did me in quick, our monks tried to save me but to much damage really. So I die, happily waiting to be ressed since I had atleast totally diverted Yakslapper and the Doly's really die fast... so I felt good. So the rest of the team whipes out the doly and the "dead" yakslapper and ofcourse for me drops "A" The Yakslapper As you guessed it no one would res me at first and they, all but one, just stood their on the green item... mostlikely clicking like mad to get it. I was pissed but... what do I care the goods are deep in SF... now what happened made my day. Remember that one who wasn't there on the pile? He had apperantly gone AFK and when he came back he immidetiatly ressed me, all the idiots left immediatly after I picked it up and I must say I had a good laugh. I thanked the guy who ressed me, who is now on my FL and we now clear SF regularly.

So though alot of people are jackasses... there are some rosses in the thorn bush.

Thanks for taking an active intrest in this thread people. While Anet is not a terrible company when it comes policies concerning the players on thier servers, Sometimes there are matter's that just need to be regulated by players.

I mean I remember back in the days of AC (Asherons Call, which I played regularally for many years) We had REAMS pages in threads all over the place naming scammers, dubious traders, con artists, griefers, etc etc etc...

Which really made shopping in the "hub" a little more bearable, or even just out and about.

Nice to see that maybe while the admins of these forums and others, may not want to name names for whatever reason they might have, that the players are still taking an active intrest in stopping people like this.

Magister.

Hey! I didn't know that items are timed out! I thought when an item in your name drops it's yours and if you don't pick it up it would be lost!
Really this game is full of surprises ..... wicked ones too!

Does anybody know what's the exact time out period? Sometimes in prolonged battles (like the Undead Hordes quest in Beetletun) you're too busy keeping alive to really notice the items falling on the ground. Some unscrupulous people could be watching for them and quickly pick up good items that you didn't notice belonged to you.
